How often do you finish a run, short or long, in weather that is hot or cold, and take off your running shoes and put on….what? What do you choose? You really shouldn’t go barefoot for the health of your feet so what option do you choose? I never really liked my options that I have a home. Usually I would put on my Birks and call it a day. But now, I may have found a better solution.

I have to say I wasn’t sure what to expect when I pulled these out of the packaging. But I was excited to try them after seeing so many other runners rave about them. So, after going on a short run, I slid these on and felt the “oo” (the company’s tag) right away. Extreme cushion would be the best way to describe them. No slippage on the bottom when walking. A soft inside so no scratching or chafing feeling on the upper foot. And, as I walked, a little bounce with each step; that’s how much cushion these are offering to you. They were a pleasant surprise to put on. I usually don’t have a lot of success with slides since my foot never wants to stay in them and, in general, I am not a huge fan of them. But the OOFOS have changed my opinion. I love wearing them post run; such a great feeling on tired and worn down feet. But I also have enjoyed wearing them elsewhere as well.
The photo above represents one of the “other” places you can wear the OOFOS slides. Here, it was on my campsite just after using them down by the beach. They were perfect for down by the beach and walking back to the campsite. A nice, soft footbed to make walking on the ground/pavement a little more comfortable. And my feet were able to breathe as well.
Now I know the above photo looks similar to the other picture but there is a slight but rather important difference. And it all happened by accident. Every year on my camping trip I bring my kayak and go for a few paddles around the area. There are islands near the launching point and sometimes I go for hikes on them. Well, the only shoes I had with me that were waterproof were…my OOFOS! So, I used them for the kayak ride but also for my hike around one of the islands. I know that it isn’t the purpose for these but they handled rugged ground, rocks, and several fallen trees that had to be traversed on my hike. I was IMPRESSED to say the least. Cushion when you need it but also extremely supportive. Can’t go wrong.
The final bonus with the OOFOS slides is that they are not only waterproof (for easy cleaning) but also they don’t hold onto sweat or other causes of smell. After my hike and trudging through some lake water…you’d never know I did it because there was zero stench with them. For the cost I’d see no reason why this sandal should not be in your closet. I’m quite pleased with these and am glad to have had them after runs and even on my camping trip. Check out their website for additional info and styles right here!
